Leave it to the 2 of us to travel all the way to Tunisia to dance. With over 1000 participants representing 28 countries, we were in Casinero heaven. This was the 6th year for Cuba in Tunisia, and it is clear why they’re already working on year 7. Wow, it didn’t disappoint. Here we recap our week long adventure, and give some information about the overall experience.
What was included?
We paid 340 Euros in total for our full pass. That price applied to staying in a triple room, so we did have 3 people in our group. We purchased in November 2022, roughly 6 months before the start of the festival.
- 7 Night Stay at an All Inclusive Resort
- Meals and Alcohol included (Paid bar during socials)
- Beach Access
- Pools
- Room had 3 twin beds
- Access to Dominican Bachata track
- All socials at the same time
- 1 room for workshops
- All workshops
- 5 Cuban Workshops
- Afro-Cuban and Rumba classes with Live percussion
- Outdoors under covered shade
- Boat Party
- Live concerts with Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor AND Alain Perez
- Musicality Conference with Alain Perez
- Parties w/ DJs (Pool, Main, and After)

In addition, we purchased a 30 euro shuttle pass. The pass transported us to and from Monastir airport (the local one), as well as to and from the boat party. If you are flying in from other airports in Tunisia there are other shuttle passes priced accordingly. We do feel this is a necessary purchase.

Our Favorite Part?
Andrea: The Maykel Blanco concert. They opened with Potpurri and it revived me. They played all the hits, and they were an amazing show. Their energy was so infectious, and the crowd was electric. I thought the stage was going to break. My one complaint is that it ended, but I will live with the 3 hours of AWESOMENESS.
Alexa: The Suelta for Fun class. So I came into the class expecting to do Suelta for an hour to some fun songs. Actually, Nikola decided to do silly moves. My favorite was the T-rex of course. It was so fun, and everyone was laughing. It was a great reminder that sometimes some silliness in our dance is needed.
Overall Takeaway
It was worth every penny. The price was absolutely unbeatable (in a triple room). This was both our first times dancing with a predominately European crowd, and the quality was there. The energy and fun on the dance floor was intoxicating. Not to mention the music played by the DJs helped keep energy high. Everyone was ready to party till 6am, and it was a treat.
There were some weather issues which forced the organizers to pivot days and locations, and I think they handled all those obstacles the best and simplest way they could. However, one clear and central way of communication while at the festival would have been helpful.
The Dominican bachata track was also outstanding. We saw lots of people dancing during socials in the Bachata area, and classes always looked full. It is very likely that this track is going to keep growing with the rest of the festival. Already, there is so much quality in the Bachata instructors it’s exciting to see where they take it.
If you’re thinking of going, DO IT! We made so many amazing friends. Also, the presence of people from the USA is slowly growing. This is definitely a BEAST of a festival and if how to get there or what to expect seems intimidating, please reach out to one of us! The easiest way to keep up with the festival is Via Instagram. We would love to help you with some tips and tricks to make sure you have the best time.
