We kept our travel closer to home this time, and went to the Queen City. There are not a lot of opportunities to delve into Rueda modalities and structures for us, and we got PLENTY of it. A lot of things we’ve only seen in video, so it was fun to do them for the first time. In today’s post we delve into our time at the Ruedx: Cincinnati 2023 hosted by Casino Real.
What was included?
Both of us purchased full passes for $55. The pass included:
- 13 hours of Rueda workshops with varied instructors over 2 days.
- 2 Catered lunches
- 3 hour social on Saturday
In addition there were other scheduled activities at no additional cost.
- Salsa on the Square (Cincinnati standing event throughout the summer)
- Streetcar Rueda
- Pool Party/BBQ
- Dinner and Dancing at a Brewery (Hosted by La Pequeña Fiesta Cubana)
- LPF 2nd Anniversary White Party (Hosted by La Pequeña Fiesta Cubana)

Our Favorite Part?
Andrea: The Rueda Equis workshop. It was so fun! The instruction was super clear, Ethan Wagner did not disappoint. Of course, it was challenging, and a great introduction before I take another class at Rueda Globetrotters in October. Equis really challenges everything you know about Rueda, and I loved every second of it.
Alexa: The Tarro de Edward Class. I truly hope this move lives on. The move was so versatile and fun. At the end of the class we all split off into small circles, and everyone practiced calling. Ending Ruedx with this was such a communal experience, and it got to the core of the weekend.
Overall Takeaway
This event was so down to earth. It was great meeting up with fellow Casineros (both new and old). We feel the event as a whole balanced workshops with socializing. There was a wide array of instructors from all over, so we took away new moves, calling paradigms, and how to structure classes on top of what was already offered.
We had so much fun at the social, great music and lots of casino…what’s not to love? Our one complaint is we would have loved for the social to have lasted longer, but then again we could dance till the sun rises. We had plenty of room to dance during the social, which is always a plus.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who made this event possible. You all did an excellent job. The time and care put into making sure everyone was taken care of, and having fun did not go unnoticed.
Did you go to Ruedx: Cincinnati? What was your favorite part? If you didn’t make it this year, you should definitely consider going in 2024. Tell us in the comments below, and don’t forget to like and subscribe for future posts.
