This week we have a round-up of songs released in 2023. We have listened to the list, and below are some of our thoughts. We highly recommend you take a listen and form your own opinion. Hopefully, you find one for your next social.
Andrea songs:
Historia de Amor by Manana Club y Paky Madarena
The slow half of the song can allow smooth dancing. Second half the song is very dynamic. Overall I enjoy the vocals because they are very melodic. I think the mambo is super pegajoso.
Emigrante by Mixael Cabrera
Nice and slow first half of the song. Lyrics are a 10 out of 10. Mixael always has outstanding vocals. Note this isn’t a hard timba song but it’s a song anyone (salseros y casineros) can enjoy a good dance too
Te Propongo by La Nueva Era
Firstly, an Alexander Abreu appearance never goes wrong. This starts nice and slow. Overall, a very dynamic song to dance to. Special shout out to the whole album which has a number of nice songs.
Ponte Pa’ Ti by Dario Alvarez y el Team Havana
This song has a nice intro. Nice variations throughout. Chorus is very catchy. Short and sweet, so very danceable. Band has a lot of promise.

Changüí a los Orishas by Nic N’Taya
I feel like I don’t hear many intros that are this low, and I appreciate it here. I appreciate the smooth transitions between each Orisha. The Virgin de la Caridad portion is continuously stuck in my head.
Mulata by Ricardo Amaray
Great single, and was love at first sight. This song is overall high energy, but still allows for some smooth dancing. I am obsessed with the vocals. The tumbao in this song is so fun.
Esas Manos by Bun Bun Mezcla’o (feat. DJ Marlong Son & Sabor)
Very smooth beginning. While there are a lot of different vocals, they all work together and enhance one another. The flutes are very experimental, but I like them. The way the song fades out, is just so relaxing.
La Bruja by Alexander Abreu
This song was love at first listen. I love how strong the trumpets introduce the song. Then, Alexander’s vocals romantically bring everything together. The backup vocals help carry the song forward. Also, saxophone solo is very nice. I felt like it was a nice nod to the original, while providing a fresh take.
