Once again we made our way to Atlanta for Casineros Timba Fest where we had a blast last year. This year they switched up their line-up and schedule, so keep reading for more on our experience.
What was Included?
I snagged a VIP early bird pass for $69 which included access to 7 hours of workshops. Friday had 4 classes 1 each hour; Saturday had 2 classes 2 each hour; Sunday 1 class.
Pool parties were also included in the pass which took place Friday and Saturday. As far as socials, there were Friday and Saturday night parties that went from around 10pm to 4am. Both night parties featured performances. The boot camps also performed Saturday night. To begin the Saturday social there was a live performer who sang some classic tunes. The weekend ended with Sunday brunch. With the exception of the Friday pool party, all parties and socials had DJs playing music.
The bootcamps were a separate purchase, proceeds collected went toward a local non-profit.

My favorite part?
Andrea
The schedule. This is the first weekend festival that I’ve seen put most of their classes on the first day. It was really nice because more people arrived early Friday and it lent itself to more fun all day Saturday because people were more rested. Parties ended late, which is something I love to see, and more people stayed since workshops weren’t in the early morning. Finally, the pool parties were a nice in-between for relaxation, socialization, and dancing.

Sunday brunch social. I think it’s a theme that the best party is the last party. We had an absolute blast, the music was booming, and I could not have asked for more.
An Area of Improvement
Andrea
The music. There was too much salsa and bachata for my preference. I’d recommend they advertise they’ll be playing a wider mix of music.
Alexa
The dance floor. Next year, investing in a sturdier dance floor will enhance the experience for attendees, I think.
Overall Takeaways
Huge thanks to William and the organizer team. Especially for inviting Andrea to teach. Just like last year, we felt like family. A fun part about this festival was how it broke the mold of what it provided. The schedule was different to most weekend festival’s we attend which was a refreshing difference. Since socials and parties are a big reason we travel, the pool party and parties till 4am were a perfect fit. Socials featured timba, salsa, bachata, timbaton, reparto, and merengue. Both of us would have preferred less salsa and bachata throughout the socials. The DJs played some great timba and brought the energy. Thank you Katha, Cosmo, and Mane.
We always say that details make a difference. After workshops and before the socials, they had a food truck outside which was delicious. A nice touch to stay at the pool parties, but also grab a bite. Plus, for the super late birds we got a late night snack at the end of the Saturday night social.
We commend the organizers were their varied slate of instructors, there were a few we rarely see on schedules which was a refreshing change. Also, there was variety in the types of classes offered. This year their classes were almost all open level. It’s perfect for those not specialized in specific genres and may not feel comfortable at an advanced or intermediate level.
For us, the bottom line is for the price point and the party vibes it was definitely worth the trip. We can’t wait to see what next year brings for Casineros Timba Fest, dates set for May 30-June 1 2025. Dont forget to check out our Travel List for more festival options around the world.
Bueno…ya tu sabes.
