Dancing Essentials

It’s happened to all of us…you go out to dance, you get there and something is missing. Either it isn’t in your bag or the venue/event didn’t provide it. We all know that our nights feel better when certain details are taken care of. Here we provide our essentials:

Venue

  • The floor
    • At the very minimum, we ask ALL organizers to give us a heads up on what kind of floor it is. Dancers want to know what kind of shoes to wear. Sticky and uneven floors make it challenging for us to dance and enjoy ourselves.
  • Lighting
    • Andrea feels very strongly about this, she hates when it is dark at the venue. Alexa, however, enjoys a nice mood lighting. Nothing extreme though.
  • Water
    • When the venue can provide water in accessible places close to the dance floor, everyone is happy. Bonus points if they allow you to bring a water bottle in. If a place is making us pay for water or wait in line, we have less time to dance!

Personal:

Andrea
  • Comfy shoes
    • A comfy shoe is compatible with the floor and something that doesn’t make your feet hurt. It doesn’t NEED to be a dance shoe, but it certainly helps. While Andrea prefers a shoe without a heel (sneakers for the win), every once and a while a short heel may come out.
  • Clothing
    • When you look and feel uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, you aren’t having all the fun you could be having. Most of us find a balance between comfy and cute, and that’s the way to do it.
    • This is a PSA, it is okay to bring an extra shirt. Everyone, including yourself, will thank you. No one likes feeling drenched for an extended amount of time.
  • Gum or mints
    • Keep that breath fresh friends.
Alexa
  • Earplugs
    • This has been a recent edition to Alexa’s essentials. Music can be pretty overwhelming at some venues, so having earplugs on hand helps. If you are dancing a lot, invest in some to protect your hearing, so you can hear the music way into the future. You will still be able to hear the music.
  • Cloth/Towel
    • When everyone is having a great time, it gets HOT. So, bring a small towel, it makes all the difference to get sweat off your arms, neck, and forehead.
  • Fan
    • Everyone will be crowding toward you to get a taste of the cold air, and you are going to feel so refreshed for your next dance.

Let us know your essentials.

Bueno…ya tu sabes.

  1. Chicas you nailed it ! 100 % agree! . 1 more thing that I could add is an extra hair elastics they Keep our hair out of the face and make us feel fresh after you tied up and because anything goes perfectly with a ponytail 😃
